Eternal Grand Master Haung Ung Lee was a man with a burning vision of the potential of Taekwondo and martial arts for a new generation. He journeyed to a new country with fresh ideas and quickly discovered the old ways would not solve the new challenges of generations to come.
Eternal Grand Master built a core of martial artists whom he disciplined and within whom he planted his vision of a martial arts community with Taekwondo Training Camps in the 70’s and 80’s. With this core of a few leaders, he designed the Songahm forms based on the simple to the most complex techniques. This new system encompassed the philosophy of Songahm Taekwondo. Eternal Grand Master had designed a teaching system founded on educational principles which provided the American Taekwondo Association with a chain of command to enable instructors to share Songahm Taekwondo with others.
In order to further the advancement of Songahm Taekwondo, Eternal Grand Master and his staff developed business systems which were able to sustain themselves and provide a livelihood for professional martial arts instructors throughout the world. This system also provided the means to conduct on-going research and learning which leads to continued growth in the ATA and the martial arts industry as a whole.
Eternal Grand Master Haung Ung Lee had incredible wisdom. He was able to share his passion with of Taekwondo with others in such a way that they could become part of something larger than themselves. He was one of a kind, a martial arts genius, an entrepreneur and a man with the foresight to visualize the future of the martial arts industry. He possessed the ability to plant the seed of desire in others to perpetuate this vision after he left this world.
Eternal Grand Master Haung Ung Lee was a true leader in our industry. I sincerely consider it an honor to have had him as my mentor and my friend. |
