Shureido Sizing Gis in Japan are given a number instead of a height measurement; the numbers correspond to the approximate heights shown in the table above. Shrinking Extreme care must be taken because this Gi can shrink anywhere from 1 to 6 inches, particularly after hot or repeated washing. It is common to buy a slightly oversized Gi to allow for shrinkage and then to have it custom tailored. These uniforms are not pre-shrunk! The Shureido 100 is made out of 100% cotton and the Shureido 50/50 is made out of 50% Cotton & 50 % Rayon. *Please note that the Shureido 100 has a bluish hue which is visible to the naked eye. Cut These uniforms are in the Traditional Cut with a traditional drawstring waistband. Washing The amount of washing your Gi will require depends how you train and for how long. To reduce shrinkage a low temperature setting should be used; the Gi should obviously be washed only with other pure white items to avoid color transfer. Damage may be caused by fast spin cycles, chlorinated bleaches (which damage fibers and can cause the white cotton to start looking grey), fabric conditioners (which clog pores in the cotton causing retention of grime) and tumble drying. This Gi should be Air-Dried. |
