Parents looking for a fun, personal way to engage and communicate with their kids often find themselves putting on a dobok and learning martial arts right along with them. Sharing the experiences of mental and physical growth in the same classroom gives them a common vocabulary and framework for discussing their values and aspirations. Bonding with his son, Devin, was the initial motivation for Mr. John Wright's foray into Songahm Taekwondo, and the two have advanced considerably both in the martial arts (the two are currently 1st Degree Black Belts) and in their relationship. But as often happens when adults start training and realizing various benefits, Mr. Wright found himself motivated to use his well-developed leadership skills to help others learn traditional Taekwondo! Master Schreiber describes him as "a fantastic assistant instructor" and also commends the positive influence Mr. Wright has on his community as a pastor, father, volunteer, and respected leader.
Team PRIDE tuition assistance students often dedicate themselves to Songahm Taekwondo with such enthusiasm and diligence that in time they become some of the school's best leaders. They work hard and practice Songahm life skills in their personal, professional, educational and social lives, extending positive influences into needful places far beyond the dojahng. It is our pleasure to highlight a few of Master Jordan Schreiber's most accomplished students, who repay the kindness of Team PRIDE assistance with achievement and honor in their lives, and with true leadership in their schools and communities.
