Bullying Prevention - Parents & Educators - ATA Leadership NOW

ATA Leadership NOW

Parents & Educators

Through my Taekwondo training I've learned how to defend myself, but as a Leadership student, I also received advanced lessons with traditional weapons. I never imagined that using something as simple as a Bo Staff could be so empowering! Although I hope I never have to defend myself against an attacker, I now have the confidence and ability to do so.

Program Overview
American Taekwondo Assoication and Olweus Bully Prevention Program

Bullying is one of the most difficult issues that students, parents and educators might encounter in or out of school. Discipline, order and respect are mainstays of Songahm Taekwondo, but many instructors offer additional support with presentations from the The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, the most researched and best-known bullying prevention program available.

Learn more about bullying, how to prevent or resolve it, and more about the Olweus program.

Protect your children with bullying prevention skills and strategies by calling your local Songahm Martial Arts school and a certified bully prevention specialist to inquire about upcoming seminars based on the Olweus program.

ATA's Bullying Prevention Classes are making Leaders for Life in Champaign, IL

ATA's Bullying Prevention Classes are making Leaders for Life in Champaign, IL

A few hundred kids now have increased their confidence through verbal and physical skills designed to combat bullying, thanks to the Olweus Bullying Prevention seminars hosted by Newberry's ATA Black Belt Academy. While these seminars focus on self-defense tactics designed to prevent bullying, very little actually involves karate chops and fierce yelling. Powerful mental skills are also practiced, teaching kids how to react to different bullying situations and how to avoid possible confrontations before they get physical. Master Newberry encourages her students to share these effective skills and teach others how to be safe in the community. That's Leadership NOW! Watch the video or read the story for "Standing Up to Bullies" (02.13.11/ WCIA3 News, Champaign). Thanks for the great work, instructors of Leaders for Life Martial Arts!
