IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL ATA MEMBERS
Safety has always been the primary goal at all of our ATA events especially in the sparring realm. Whether it is rule changes or equipment requirements, we are always striving to alleviate any potentially harmful situation. It is with this goal in mind that the following equipment requirement will be instituted.
BEGINNING AT THE 2004 SONGAHM TAEKWONDO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, CHEST PROTECTORS WILL BE MANDATORY FOR ALL MEMBERS THAT WILL BE SPARRING EITHER IN COMPETITION OR TESTING
- This includes the finals of the Top Ten competition
- This includes the black belt testing
- This includes the regular sparring competition
- This includes all ages and all ranks that will be sparring
- This includes all ages and ranks that will be sparring
- This includes all Class C, Class B, and Class A events
- This includes both National events (Class AA) and World events (Class AAA)
- The front of the rib cage and sternum
- The ribs as they extend around the sides including the floating rib
- We do highly recommend the chest protector offered by WMA
-It has been designed to not impede the kicking ability of the competitor
-It is extremely lightweight, yet provides the protection desired
