Letter from the Masters’ Council: December 2, 2020
To follow up from the Masters' Council Letter that was sent on October 8, 2020.
Good afternoon,
The Masters’ Council recently issued a letter thanking Grand Master G. K. Lee for his service as ATA’s Presiding Grand Master and explaining the process for selecting his successor. In that letter, we said that he “has decided to step down from his role as Presiding Grand Master.” The quoted statement was inaccurate.
We drafted our letter after seeing the ATA press release announcing that Grand Master Lee’s role as Presiding Grand Master has concluded. Our letter was based on our overly broad interpretation of that press release.
We apologize for any misimpression that our letter conveyed. Our intention was not to disrespect Grand Master Lee. Quite the opposite: We wanted to respect Grand Master Lee by recognizing the pivotal role he has played not only as a Presiding Grand Master but as a leader who has for decades been a pioneer in the development of the ATA’s martial arts curriculum. We are grateful for his tremendous contributions to Songahm Taekwondo, and we know that his work will continue to benefit, for years to come, the students and instructors Grand Master G. K. Lee trained.
Sincerely,
Grand Master Robert Jager

Chief Master Al Dilegge
Chief Master Larry Hoover
Chief Master Michelle Landgren-Lee
