ATA Book Series To Help You Exercise Your Mind And Enjoy Your Sport

bg-_book.pngStrong bodies and strong minds are the backbones of ATA Martial Arts, so it’s easy to see how reading and martial arts can go hand in hand.

Students learn plenty of great physical skills through Taekwondo, but they are expanding their minds as well. Grand Master Emeritus Soon Ho Lee tells us that “There is Always More to Learn” and with that in mind, ATA has developed inspirational reading material that can serve to enhance the physical part of training.

Actually, ATA’s newest book series, titled “Team Taekwondo,” is an action-packed graphic novel for all ages!  The books share the adventurous tales of the ATA Tiger characters and were designed for younger students to read with parents or for older students to enjoy by themselves.

The first installment is called Ara’s Rocky Road to White Belt and lets readers find out more about Ara, Baeoh and all of the gang. The books are NOW available in bookstores nationwide and can be purchased today through World Martial Arts (WMA).

Master Taekwon Lee, co-author of the book, said “These books allow readers to learn more about the ATA Tiger characters they already know.  In the first book, we get to meet Ara’s family, see where he lives and find out how he met Baeoh. The books are a lot of fun and something students and future students can enjoy.”

Each book promotes the values and lessons of the leadership and life skills taught in ATA Tiger classes, while also offering readers an opportunity to try a free class at a participating ATA Licensed location.

Being ATA Strong is about so much more than just having impressive kicks. These books will be an enriching addition for ATA families and those wanting to learn more about martial art. Be sure to ask your instructor or visit a bookstore near you TODAY to get your copy of "Ara's Rocky Road to White Belt" and rev up your family reading!

Be Part of the ATA Adventure

Jason Wells, associate publisher and director of marketing and publicity for Rodale Books, shared more about this exciting new ATA book series.

“Team Taekwondo is an an action-packed, full-color graphic novel series that — through fun, kid friendly writing — teaches important life and character-building principles of martial arts. Each book is packed with the adventures of the personified animal characters written by Master Taekwon Lee and Mr. Jeffrey Nodelman and illustrated by New York Times bestselling illustrator Ethan Beaver. [The books] also demonstrate principles such as discipline, honor, respect, and leadership. In Ara`s Rocky Road to White Belt, the first installment of the series, he is the odd turtle out in his family, preferring his rock collection to new or wild adventures — until he meets Baeoh, a confident tiger who practices martial arts. Unsure if he has what it takes to join Baeoh’s Taekwondo team, Ara must learn how to come out of his shell, persist through failure and accept the help of his new friends to complete the Tiger Fitness Challenge.”

Future installments will feature other characters in exciting stories. Look for more info soon!

The Reviews are IN!

Publisher’s Weekly, the international news website of book publishing and bookselling reviews, bestseller lists, commentaries and more had this to say about Ara's Rocky Road to White Belt.

"Lee and Nodelman blend the essential lessons of taekwondo with an idealized look at how family and friends can support self-confidence rather than diminish it. Messages about self-esteem, positive thinking, and persistence are never far from the surface, but the story avoids turning preachy...Beavers’s vivid, angular cartoons balance action-oriented scenes with more introspective moments. It’s a story that makes the success of a small first step feel like an epic achievement, which is exactly what someone lacking confidence needs to hear." –Publishers Weekly
